CITY LIGHTS

The street is now filled with glistening lights

The bushes, fences and greenhouse too.

Tonight seems like a brand, new city

Enshrouding familiarity with intimate flavors.

I walked past nine o’clock

And touched an old palm tree.

Its bark felt coarse and rough

And has spaces that fit my fingers through

The park is seven lamp posts away

All of which were three trees apart.

I strolled past two lovers’ touch

Whose ardent embrace ebbs melodiously.

I reached by the swing and looked above

Where stars were still vibrant in few clear patches.

That’s when I realized as I contemplated

How thankful I am that I walked tonight.
